Nicole and I thought we would change the team name this year to something inspired by one of her favorites, Taylor Swift. We have had so many great memories from this race over the years, and we are thankful for all of our friends and family who have participated in the race and fundraising for brain tumor research. 

We want to continue to give back to the institution that gave us hope when we were severely lacking it. The Duke Brain Tumor Center has been nothing short of amazing for us and we could not imagine having a better experience. We have both felt strongly compelled to pass on the opportunity to others in her shoes the tremendous blessing that has been bestowed upon us. The funds generated from the Angels Among Us annual 5k go directly to brain tumor research to help with novel therapies for brain tumor patients. Nicole is currently in a clinical trial for a drug which is hoped to slow or stop the growth of Grade II tumors like hers. Research and clinical trials like this would not be possible without start up funding to help with these projects before getting grants and other federal funds. 

The Duke Brain Tumor Center and this clinical trial have really given us a sense of hope for the progress of brain tumors research and better treatment for those living with brain tumors. We hope to see all of you reading this message at the Angels Among Us 5k this year!
