On May 30th, 2023, I experienced a sudden loss of speech while at work, which led to a harrowing discovery at a local hospital in Alabama: a Brain Tumor. Following a successful surgical removal, the biopsy results revealed a Grade 4 Glioblastoma (GBM), a diagnosis my local neuro oncologist gave a grim prognoses and decided to not prescribe chemotherapy due to lack of any success with GBM.
However, amidst this challenging journey, a beacon of hope emerged when I learned about and was accepted into Duke University's Tisch Brain Tumor Center. For the first time since my diagnosis, I was met with optimism and a real chance at survival. This transformative experience has reshaped every aspect of my life, from my dietary habits to how I navigate travel and engage with others.
Thanks to the exceptional care provided by Duke University and my dedicated team of medical professionals, I have reclaimed my life, returned to full-time work, and am embracing every moment with gratitude.
On April 26th, I am honored to participate in their 5k run/walk and fundraiser. I'm reaching out to humbly request your support through donations or come join my team on the run! Your contributions will enable the Tisch Brain Tumor Center to continue offering hope and advanced care to individuals facing the daunting challenges of rare brain tumor cancers like Glioblastoma.
Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.
