Destination Hope was created by a group of corporate leaders in support of a close friend and brain cancer survivor. In 2018, they began the Business Executive Committee (the BEC) and partnered with the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University, one of the best pediatric and adult neuro-oncology programs in the world.
Seeing the tremendous need in helping families battling a pediatric brain tumor and supporting a robust research program, the BEC implemented the Destination Hope at Duke program. The program covers travel and other expenses for pediatric brain tumor patients and their families in financial need, allowing swift access to groundbreaking treatments at a time when they need it most.
In just 8 years, we have raised over $10 million to support the development of treatments and clinical trials that traditional research funding doesn?t support.
We'll be running the Angels Among Us 5K race on Saturday, April 25th to continue our impact in the fight against childhood brain cancer.
With your support, Duke will continue to transform the standards of care for pediatric brain tumors, preventing the need for surgery with less invasive therapies, increasing long-term survival and allowing children to live a normal life.
