On November 2, 2023, Ernest Keith Roberts experienced a mild seizure while working in the yard — a moment that changed everything. What followed was a rapid series of events that led to the discovery of a brain tumor and his transfer to Duke University Medical Center. Keith underwent surgery on November 8, where he received a diagnosis of Stage IV Glioblastoma.
After five weeks of healing, Keith began daily radiation and oral chemotherapy on December 22, 2023, completing this first phase of treatment on February 1, 2024. He then moved into monthly cycles of oral chemotherapy starting February 18, 2024, continuing through February 1, 2025. During this time, he underwent monthly bloodwork and bi‑monthly MRIs to monitor for any signs of recurrence. For four months, those scans brought hopeful news.
But in June 2025, his medical team noticed changes on an MRI that required a return to daily chemotherapy. After four additional months, Keith transitioned to another chemotherapy regimen involving weekly blood draws and occasional platelet transfusions. Even in the midst of this difficult period, joy still found its way in — Keith proudly walked his daughter, Rachel (our Team Captain), down the aisle, celebrating a day filled with love and gratitude.
Today, Keith continues treatment through bi‑weekly infusion therapy, planned over the next six months, as he and his care team remain steadfast in fighting this disease every step of the way.
Keith doesn’t call himself a survivor — he calls himself surviving. He recognizes the unpredictable nature of brain cancer, but he faces it with courage, faith, and determination. A brain tumor diagnosis touches every part of life. It shifts priorities, deepens relationships, and makes every moment feel more meaningful. Through it all, Keith and Team Roberts Luck are profoundly grateful for the love, support, and prayers they’ve received.
Together, we continue to fight — with purpose, with hope, and with the belief that no one walks this journey alone.
Team Roberts Luck is walking to support the life‑saving research being done at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke, where Keith receives expert care, compassion, and unwavering support from an extraordinary medical team.
