In September 2018, we lost my sweet sister, Nan May, after a 5 and 1/2-year battle against Glioblastoma Multiforme. Brain cancer is the most underfunded of all cancers and brain tumor survivors deserve every possible improvement in their quality of life as they continue to hope for a cure.
In order to help fund research, I invite you to join me (by signing up under the Join Sue's Team link) as a part of Team NAN'S ANGELS and participate in DUKE's Cancer Center Angels Among Us 5K and Family Walk. Once registered, you are given a page like this one, where you can add your own sub-team and promote Angels! I welcome the competition, so click on your name.
Should you be unable to take part that day, but wish to donate, that can be done on this page as well. Special thanks in advance.
I participated in this event every year since April 2013 and thoroughly enjoyed the walks to Duke Chapel for a selfie and through Duke Gardens, just waking up from winter. The entire family will enjoy this day. There is simply something for everyone. When you look around at the survivors, caregivers, Duke staff and friends, you will see that HOPE is truly written in all caps at DUKE. This morning in April is uplifting. The opportunity to speak with others dealing with brain tumors, whether survivor or caregiver, helped me move forward with a far more positive outlook.
Cancer does not care who you are, where you come from or how old you are. It strikes at random and when you least expect it. It is comforting to know that DUKE is there should you, a loved one, a friend or neighbor be confronted with a diagnosis of brain cancer.
I look forward to having you with us. Thank you for your participation and support.
Sue for Team NAN'S ANGELS.
