Over the past 15 years, since Mom was diagnosed with brain cancer, I have done a triathlon as a fundraiser for brain tumor research most years. However, I am doing things a little differently this year and doing a run instead of a triathlon. Last year I broke my foot and wasn't able to train or race much. I am doing the Chessie Trail Half Marathon this year on October 26th.
I miss Mom everyday and over six years later I am still working through my grief. However, I know she is with me every step of the way. The Duke Brain Tumor center treated Mom with amazing care for nine years, so I will continue to raise money for their research. Established in 1937, The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center is one of the oldest brain tumor research and clinical programs in the United States and is a destination for patients seeking the most advanced treatments. The funds raised will support groundbreaking research and cutting-edge clinical trials. Your gift will give Duke the resources needed to continue the fight against brain tumors.
