Angels Among Us 2023

Mr. Mike

Many of you know, that I lost my dad, Mike Gyurko, on January 25, 2023 to this horrible disease. My dad was a very active and physically fit 73 year old at the time of diagnosis. He noticed he was having difficulty with his memory and went in to see his doctor. He underwent an MRI which showed the worst of the worst, a grade 4 glioblastoma. He underwent successful tumor removal on November, 2021. After 6 months of chemo and rediation, the turmor returned in August of 2022. After this, it was a fast decline. I watched a strong man go from running and lifting weights a year prior to now being bedridden, and ultimately being trapped in a body that he no longer controlled. He passed and I lost my dad. I was blessed that I was able to spend the 15 months of his fight by his side. My dad never gave up and never quit fighting.. He would want us to help find a cure for this disease!

I am asking you to help fight this disease, that takes too many year year. On average, 15,000 new cases of glioblastoma are diagnosed each year, and life expectancy hovers in the area of 14 months. There's no cure for glioblastoma, which is also known as glioblastoma multiforme. Treatments might slow cancer growth and reduce symptoms.
