Nicole McGuinness suffered 3 seizures within 12 hours on December 22nd, 2015. Two days later, Christmas Eve 2015, Nicole underwent brain surgery to remove a tumor in the left frontal lobe of her brain at Duke University. January 2016, Nicole, her family and friends learned the tumor was a grade 4 Glioblastoma. After 6 weeks of daily chemotherapy (Temodar) and daily radiation, Nicole was missing over 1/4 of her hair (from the radiation) and exhausted from chemo. In March of 2016, Nicole began her clinical trial, Elevate, at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke. She continued with 5 days of chemo a month until May of 2017. Her clinical trial also concluded during the summer of 2017. In December, 2022 Nicole celebrated SEVEN YEARS from surgery!
Nicole is ever grateful for her family and friends. She is blessed by the support and encouragement. Please join "Stroll for Nicole" to help support the Robert Preston Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke! Let's find a cure!
