Hi Everyone! 

First of all, I would like to say how extremely excited we are to be fundraising for such a great cause. Angels Among Us is an amazing organization through Duke that raises money in support of Brain Tumor Research. We are walking in memory of my dad, Neil Kennedy. He fought for 33 years and is the most inspiring person I have ever met. His ongoing persistance, drive, and downright stubbornness was what made his fight so moving.

My dad was diagnosed in 1988, when he was only 24 years old. With a new form of radiation, doctors were able to halt the growth of the tumor. When he was 49 years old, we started noticing changes in his speech, how he walked, etc. This was the beginning of going back and forth from Duke for 8 years; changing chemotherapy medications, radiation, biopsies, thus prolonging his life. Dr. Peters and her team gave my Dad exceptional care for all of those years. 

Duke was able to provide the best care we could have imagined for my Dad, and for that, we are forever grateful. We hope in the future that we can one day say we have finally found a cure for Brain Cancer.
