Angels Among Us 2024

Fighting Porcupines

My name is Shelley Duncan.  In 2011 my Mom, Jeanine Duncan, was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma brain tumor and was treated at Duke medical center.  The following year, my brother Chris, was also Diagnosed with a Glioblastoma and was also treated at Duke medical center.  My mother passed away in 2014 and brother in 2019.  The strength my mom and brother showed during their battle will inspire me forever, and the pain watching someone go through this will never be forgotten.  I pray that one day a cure is found for this viscous disease, and am confident that Duke is doing everything possible to do this.

I am managing the Scranton Rail Riders, Triple-A team of the New York Yankees. Things are lined up perfectly with our team in town playing the Durham Bulls, so our coaches and staff members have come together to create a team for this race.  I am honored and privileged to have this group join me in this 5K to raise money for a cause that means so much to me.  Our team is the Fighting Porcupines and we are running to raise money for brain tumor research in honor of my brother Chris, my mom Jeanine, and the countless others who have fought this disease or are fighting it, along with their family members.

Thank you to all of those who have already shown your support.  Please join our team or donate to help us meet and exceed our fundraising goals.  This is special.  Thank you!
