The John and Gary All-Stars
Most people know that my dad and Uncle Gary both passed away after battles with glioblastoma in 2017. My grandfather also passed away after a short battle with brain cancer in 1994. This impacted our families immensely. Since my father passed, four new grandchildren have been born that never got a chance to meet one of the kindest and funniest people I ever knew. My cousin has also had children that never got to meet their grandfather. I started participating in this event after they passed away and although I missed a few years during the pandemic, I knew I needed to get back out there and continue raising money to try and ensure others do not have to go through the pain of losing a loved one to a terrible disease. Over the past couple of years I have had others reach out about their loved ones have dealt with it or currently going through it and children in school with Cecilia lost their mother. This year, on top of running in memory of my father, uncle, and grandfather, I am running in memory of Donna Bobco, Gordon Lawson and the mother of Cecilia's friends, and for Yitka Geiger who is currently battling brain cancer.
