Angels Among Us 2024

Black Mountain Thankful

In May of 2022, our world was turned upside down when Scott had a grand mal seizure in our home that led to a trip to the ER where doctors discovered a brain tumor. We were referred to Duke for the removal of the tumor and pathology reports to determine next steps.

Three weeks later, Dr. Friedman and his team performed an awake craniotomy to successfully remove the tumor. Scott is now under the care of Dr. Desjardins and her team as they treat him for a grade 3 astrocytoma. He completed the radiation/chemo combo fall 2022 and completed his year of chemo in the fall of 2023. Following his chemo treatment plan, he had follow up scans every two months, but he has since been moved to every three months for scans.

Words cannot express how extremely grateful we are for everyone at Duke! Their knowledge, skill, care, and diligence have been amazing as we continue to walk through this journey. We are honored to participate in this fundraiser to help support them with their ongoing brain tumor research.

Forever grateful,

Team Russell (Scott, Lisa, Bramlett and Noah) along with our family and friends
