Duke Children's is our safety net. As a community, and as a parent, the fact that we have this world class facility in our back yard is such a blessing. The staff and community of Duke Children's is so innovative, knowledgeable, and supportive. God forbid anything were to happen to any of the children in our lives, knowing that Duke is ready and able to help, heal, and hold your family up is a real comfort. It is one of my life's biggest honors to be able to fundraise for them.

a Soft Place to Land - comfort and care for families in the Pediatric Echo Lab.
How It Will Help Duke Children's Patients
The Duke Pediatric Echo lab is where children with congenital heart defects (CHD) have their hearts examined. The scans can be lengthy, and providers usually turn out the lights. Often, family members accompanying their child close their eyes, and sometimes the parents say, “I’m so sorry! I’m dozing off!” The exhaustion and sleep deprivation that comes with having a critically ill child is unimaginable. The Echo lab wants to provide comfortable chairs for caregivers to sit in while their children get their hearts examined, providing a small touch of comfort and kindness during an incredibly stressful time.
