Welcome to My Personal Page
I participate to honor my late husband Jon Fochler. If anyone had told me that I would be a widow at age 43, I would have never believed them. I had a perfect life. A loving husband that would have tried to move Heaven and Earth if I had asked; three beautiful daughters; everything we had ever dreamed of, we had accomplished together. Then came that day in June of 2010 when our dream turned into a nightmare. At the age of 39, Jon was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. He was a stubborn, independent person and was adamant about not want people to know how sick he was. He wanted to protect everyone he cared about instead of worrying about himself. I honored his decision and together, along with the incredible staff at Duke Cancer Center, we fought this terrible disease. Jon Fochler was the strongest person I have ever known. If sheer will and love we're enough, he would still be here today. Jon died on October 3, 2013 at the age of 43. Our 19 year old daughter, Kayla, joined him in heaven on December 26, 2015 due to injuries she sustained in an automobile accident.
I know first hand that nightmares can become reality. I also know that car accidents and cancer have a lot in common-They don’t discriminate; Neither are fair; They both can strike when you least expect them; Both can be deadly. However, there is one huge difference... Cancer is something that people actually have the power to change! We can help rid the world of this terrible disease by coming together and donating to fund more research. Unbelievable breakthroughs are happening every single day that would never be possible without groups like this one that rally support and keep gastrointestinal cancers of all types in the spotlight. Please consider making a donation to this absolutely necessary cause!
