Hi and WELCOME to my page!

On December 23rd, 2012 my life changed forever when my mom gained her heavenly wings and departed this Earth after a 2 year battle with colon cancer. After her passing, I vowed to make sure that I not only continued to live out her legacy but that I helped to raise awareness about colorectal cancer in her honor and memory.

March is colorectal cancer awareness month and in 2014 I started Team Juanita as a way to both honor my mother while raising awareness. The Duke colorectal cancer team took absolutely phenomenal care of my mom but also was a great support to my father, myself and my family as we all journeyed through the process with her. Several years ago they started the Crush colorectal cancer 5K run/walk and each year it has been an honor for me to participate es[ecially after all that this team gave to my mom and my family.

This years 5K will take place on Saturday, March 21st in Durham at 8am. If you would like to join me by walking or running please register to join Team Juanita. If you are unable to join but would still like to support, please consider making a donation. All donations will support DUKE Colorectal Cancer research and are tax deductible.

I thank you in advance for your support as I strive to continue to raise money for colorectal cancer research and to help bring awareness about colorectal cancer in honor and memory of my mom. I ask that you please keep those that care for cancer patients, those doing research to help find cures and most importantly the individuals dealing with cancer and their close family and friends in your prayers.
