Thank you for visiting our Karing for Karen Team page! We greatly appreciate your support of our team in our efforts to support Ovarian Cancer Research as we participate in the Gail Parkins Memorial Ovarian Cancer Walk & 5K Run, and hope you decide to join us!

This team was created to honor the memory of Karen K. Cooper, a loving mother, wife and friend. In October 2011 Karen K. Cooper passed away after battling ovarian cancer, and we miss her dearly. She was a strong and kind woman, who constantly took care of those around her and wasn't afraid to be silly, either. She impacted everyone who had the joy of knowing her. In September 2011 Karen got to participate in this walk thanks to the support and love of her women's circle, the Priscilla Circle, from St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. She loved this walk and just being able to raise awareness and money for a cause that had directly impacted her life.

We appreciate any donation — small or large, every bit counts — you are able to make to help raise awareness and fund important research. Duke is making progress with new and better treatments and continuing their goal of finding an accurate screening test and with your help it will become a reality. We would love to have you join the team, but if you can't make it to walk, run and celebrate Karen's life, we would still welcome your donation.

Even if you can't donate to the cause right now, PLEASE educate yourself and your loved ones on the often subtle symptoms of ovarian cancer.
