Praise God! June 5, 2024 marks 7 years since receiving my Ovarian Cancer diagnosis!!! It has been a hard 7 years but praise to God for extra years with family!
First chemo and surgery called Frontline treatment began in June 2017 and completed in Jan 2018.
I had a recurrence in 2020-21 and have now been in remission for a second time for 3 years!!!
Amazingly, I have outlived my 5 year prognosis but that does not mean I am cancer free.
With OC, a small number of cells usually lie dormant after treatment, and they wait for an opportunity to start growing exponentially. I am now considered to have a chronic cancer, with a 99% chance of recurrence at any time. I really am depending on research for more effective drugs.
I am the Team Captain for Fighting In Faith for the Gail Parkins Memorial Ovarian Cancer Walk & 5K Run. Event day- September 21, 2024 at Sanderson High School in Raleigh, NC.
