Ovarian cancer may be known as a silent killer, but we can be the voice to provide change. It?s often not found until it is stage 4 and no cure exists, but together, we can advocate for more research and better testing methods. Although many drugs used to treat ovarian cancer were developed in the mid-90s, we can be hopeful that newer treatments will bring us closer to a cure.
My journey with ovarian cancer began almost two years ago, and I've been rising above the challenges ever since. At the age of 46, I was diagnosed with stage four terminal ovarian cancer, but I've refused to let it define me. Most my weeks are filled with doctors' appointments, chemo scans, and blood draws, but I remain steadfast in my determination. Despite the setbacks, I'm still fighting.
I believe in the power of science and research, which is why I've joined a drug trial at Duke. Although I was randomized to receive the standard of care drug, I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of ovarian cancer treatment. My participation in this trial is a testament to my commitment to creating a better future for women with ovarian cancer. That's why I'm passionate about this fundraiser ? I want to leave a lasting impact and create a world with better options for women. We need to push the boundaries of detection, treatment, and ultimately, find a cure. Your financial support can be the catalyst for change, and together, we can make a difference. Let?s unite to support ovarian cancer research and create a brighter future for all women.
