The Rainbow of Heroes Walk commemorates and celebrates all Duke Pediatric Transplant and Cellular Therapy (PTCT) patients and their families. Participants are invited to enjoy a variety of activities, music, performances, photo opportunities, a silent auction, refreshments, and more! We walk laps together around the Duke Center for Living track as each lap is dedicated to a different group within the program that makes us the powerful community we are. The Rainbow of Heroes Walk is a reunion for patients, families, medical staff, volunteers, and supporters who have come to know each other through the months-long transplant process. It’s also the main fundraiser for the Duke PTCT Family Support Program. We look forward to coming together at the Duke Center for Living on Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 9am-1pm for a day to honor and remember all of our heroes.

Read about a few of our incredible patients…

"The Family Support program was a blessing to us especially during those long difficult admissions and we had several. They would come give me a break on those tough days or have a volunteer come in to do a craft with our sweet Zuri. The staff always knew the right moments to step in and lend a hand during our journey! Thanks Family Support staff for all your help and encouragement!">

"We love Duke PTCT Family Support and everyone at Duke Children's / Unit 4A. They were there for us in ways we didn't even know we needed during the extremely difficult transplant process. Family Support Services provided so much to us including patient and caretaker meals, thoughtful items for patients, and meaningful gifts and gestures throughout Brody’s lengthy hospital stay. It's those creature comforts that, at least for us, helped us find some light during an extremely dark and stressful time for our family. Today Brody is walking, running, and laughing through life and we feel extra grateful for everyone on Unit 4A"

"The hospital stay and care after transplant that we have all gone through is very hard on a person and on their family. The Family Support Program helps provide assistance for the families and kids who have had rough days and bad weeks because they connect with the kids in a beautiful way. The staff in Family Support also make the kids feel happy with special activities and special visits from people they love. They provide for them in whatever way they can to make them feel special and loved. The Family Support Program is a group of people who will be there for you in any way possible. If you are a family or a kid going through this you are a fighter and you are strong and you got this and you are being cared for by others who will help you get through."
