My daughter Aubrey was diagnosed at 11 years old in March of 2024 with a rare form of childhood cancer called Ewing Sarcoma. About 1% of all childhood cancers are Ewing tumors and only about 200 children and teens are diagnosed with Ewing tumors in the United States each year. Aubrey's tumor was found in her maxillary sinus/orbital area, and she underwent 14 rounds of chemo as well as 7 weeks of proton radiation. After all of that, when cancer treatment was finally finished, she contracted a serious infection in the hospital which put her in a wheelchair for 7 weeks and forced her to have to relearn to walk. I am so happy to say that Aubrey completed her treatment in November of 2024 and is now cancer free.
I am doing this fundraiser to honor Aubrey's fight as just one of the many people who supported Aubrey throughout her treatment at Duke Children's. I am terrified of heights, so I am also taking a big leap in doing this fundraiser as meeting my minimum fundraising goal of at least $1,000 "wins" me the opportunity to rappel down the side of Duke Central Tower.
Will you help me support the patients and families at Duke Children's in honor of Aubrey's brave and courageous fight? Every donation, small or large, goes to support the patients and families at Duke Children's
Thank you for supporting me in this exciting endeavor and ultimately supporting kids and families who need it most!
