When your child’s health and life are on the line, you need the very best doctors. And you’ll find
them at Duke Children’s.

Aaron and Alessandra Dinin know because Dr. Salim Idriss saved their daughter's life.

When Adeline was born, she was experiencing irregular heartbeats. The doctors assured them it was probably no big deal. Just to be safe, they took their baby to Duke Children’s. There, Dr. Idriss, a pediatric electrophysiologist, realized their daughter had Long QT Syndrome — a rare, “sudden arrhythmic death syndrome” that is difficult to detect because the first symptom is usually death.

Had it not been for Duke Children’s, chances are they would have taken their daughter home thinking she was perfectly healthy … only to find her dead in her crib one morning.

“Because of Dr. Idriss, we can help protect her so she has a much better chance of living a long, happy, healthy life. It’s miraculous, and it’s thanks to the incredible doctors at Duke Children’s.”
– Aaron Dinin

To celebrate National Doctors' Day on March 30, the Dinin family and Salim Idriss, MD, PhD matched gifts to Duke Children's up to $10,000. Thanks to donors like you, more than $25,000 was raised! Please join them in honoring caregivers by making a gift today. Your support will give the doctors and researchers at Duke Children's the resources they need to save the lives of more children.
