Dear Family and Friends, to "Patricia's Defeated Mango" Team!
I am thrilled to announce my participation in the 2024 Strike Out Sarcoma 5K Run & Walk, where I'll be walking in honor of my sister/cousin, Patricia.
Patricia bravely battled sarcoma, and with unwavering strength, the support of loved ones, and her positive spirit, she conquered the "mango". The term "mango" was coined by Patricia as a lighthearted way to refer to her diagnosis, steering clear of the daunting "C" word. After enduring countless doctor visits, radiation treatments, and hospital stays, Pat received her "mango-"free diagnosis.
Sarcoma knows no boundaries, affecting individuals of all ages and genders. Annually, about 10,000 individuals are confronted with this diagnosis. Effective treatment and rehabilitation demand specialized expertise, and the dedicated team at Duke has extensive experience in providing a collaborative and comprehensive approach to treating this rare yet serious disease. Research funding remains scarce, and your support will enable the Duke Cancer Institute to advance the frontiers of sarcoma treatment, fostering hope for a cure.
I humbly seek your support through a donation to my fundraising efforts. A visit to the "Patricia's Defeated Mango" team page, and a simple click on the "DONATE NOW" button, will enable you to contribute today. Your tax-deductible gift will undoubtedly impact the lives of many.
Please save the date and join us on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at the beautiful WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina 201 Soccer Park Drive Cary, NC. We are coming together to show our support for Patricia, and everyone impacted by sarcoma, a rare type of cancer. Your presence at this event will be greatly appreciated. Hope to see you there!
