Bella was only a newborn when she came to Duke Children’s at 3 weeks old. Following her diagnosis of Trisomy 8, a chromosomal disorder, Bella and her family started on a journey of regularly seeing multiple specialists at Duke Children’s.
Despite her condition, Bella has been an inspiration to everyone around her, especially her older brother, Gio. Initially motivated by children and families who spent their holidays in the hospital, Gio started fundraising through a small lemonade stand. Since that first day selling, Gio’s lemonade sales have grown significantly, and in 2023 their lemonade sales raised $11,000 for Duke Children's!
Bella's family is grateful for the care she receives at Duke. "Because of Duke Children's," says her mother, Tina, "I have the comfort of knowing I am heard, and she is taken care of by some of the best physicians."
