Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant

We are engaged in studies to improve patient outcomes in hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HCT) patients. HCT uses your own (autologous) or a donor’s (allogeneic) stem cells to improve therapies to cure leukemias, lymphomas, and other cancers and diseases.

To prepare a patient for HCT, toxic chemotherapies and radiation are often needed. These treatments can cause bad side effects, even long after the transplant period is over. They can also increase the risk of death from HCT complications.

How you can help:

Our HCT studies have the potential to greatly improve the lives of people going through HCT. However, they do take a lot of resources and effort.

We have received funding for much of this work from the NIH and non-profit foundations. However, more funds are needed to support the development of new ideas or essential research infrastructure.
