Come celebrate 31 years of HOPE at our annual Angels Among Us 5K & Walk of HOPE. Join us in person or virtually as we raise awareness of our mission to find a cure for brain tumors.
Just as the team of dedicated medical experts work together to help patients at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center, our Angels Among Us teams gather to help raise awareness and the critically needed funds to help support brain tumor research, patient education, and clinical trials of brain and spinal tumors.
Put your best foot forward and let’s get started.
Set your fundraising goal. We recommend a minimum goal of $500 but encourage you to think bigger and reach beyond your goal!
Personalize your fundraising page with your story—your reason for participating in Angels Among Us. When family and friends know why you're on the front lines fighting against brain tumors, they'll be more motivated to support you.
Make a personal donation. If you haven't already done so, donate to your own fundraiser to show your commitment to the cause.
Download our Fundraising & Recruiting Toolkit. Save the images and suggested captions in our toolkit to share with family and friends on social media to raise more funds for brain tumor research and grow your team.
Send pre-written emails from your Participant Center to ask for support from friends, family, and coworkers.
Meet with your team to swap fundraising ideas. What’s the number one way to get support? You have to ASK. It’s amazing how many people have made the comment, “I would have donated, but no one asked me.” Don’t miss an opportunity because you were too shy to ask.
Here are just a few ways in which you can raise money:

With more than 2 billion users on Facebook alone, you have an endless supply of people you can reach out to with the push of a button. Today’s social networks not only will help you reach and surpass your goal, but it is a fast and easy way to spread awareness about brain tumor cancers that strike both adults and children.
Twitter
Tweet to your friends about the brain tumor research being conducted at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke.
LinkedIn
This network, used by millions of professionals, is a great avenue to reach out to for business and corporate sponsorship. Share your story and ask for support. Remind people to check with their company’s HR Department to see if they participate in a matching gifts program. A company match is a great way to double their gift in the fight to cure brain tumors.
YouTube
What a fun way to tell your team story and spread awareness. With YouTube you can create a slideshow with pictures of your team in the act of fundraising or put together a video educating people on the statistics of brain tumors. If you came to last year’s Angels event and captured the activities of the day, consider creating a highlights reel to celebrate all of the walkers and runner, the brain tumor survivors, and remember those who fought a brave fight. Upload your creation to YouTube for the world to see.
An anonymous donor–and very special angel–has issued a $200,000 “Angel Challenge” to every team who participated in 2023, to raise even more for brain tumor research in 2024!
Teams that participated in the 2023 Angels Among Us will be awarded $1 for every $1 of increased giving by their team towards the 2024 race, up to a maximum of $200,000! For example, if Team A raised $1,000 in 2023, and raises $1,500 in 2024, the $500 increase will be matched dollar for dollar. So, Team A will receive an extra $500 for their team total, making their 2024 donation $2,000. Only the funds you raise above and beyond your 2023 total are eligible to be matched.
“Angel Challenge” funds will be awarded on a first come, first served basis prior to April 27, until the $200,000 donation is depleted. To qualify to have matching funds added to your team total, all donations must be mailed by April 13. All online gifts must be made by April 25. After that date, please bring gifts with you to the event. At the event, if there are still challenge funds available, the teams with the largest increase from 2023 will be awarded first until all the funds are depleted.
We want to make sure every dime of this challenge is used by our generous grant!
Gift-in-kind donations or fees for services do not qualify for the challenge. Donations pledged but not yet paid do not qualify.
